New fabrics
I've got loads of new fabrics. Some basic solid colors, but also some with great prints. One of my favorites is this comic book print. It's so inspiring...

New top
I couldn't wait to start making something with my new serger. So I made this viscose top last night. The pattern is from the new Dutch sewing magazine Fast Fashion.
I bought the fabric from a t-shirt factory in Temse that sells their left overs 2 times a year. Their fabrics are always super good quality with striking patterns. I think the cut of the top and this fabric are a perfect combination. The top is a little A-lined with flared sleeves. I think I will change the end of the sleeves and the bottom when I figger out how the rolled hem of my serger works... :) Next week I have a lesson at my dealers'.
Babylock serger
I wanted a serger for some time now and finally bought one today. Tadaaaaaa, here's my Babylock Eclipse. Now my sewing projects will go even faster AND will have a professional finished look. This baby has the following features:
- Instant "Jet-Air Threading"
- Built-in Needle Threader
- Full-Featured Differential Feed
- Micromatic Twin Cam Tension System
- 4/3/2 Thread Serging
- Heavy-Duty Cutting System
- Vertical Needle Penetration
- Exclusive Fabric Support System
- Rolled Hemming with 3 or 2 Threads
- Dial Adjustable Stitch Width: 1.5mm to 7.5mm
- Dial Adjustable Stitch Length: 0mm to 4mm
- Presser Foot Pressure Adjustment- Adjust presser foot pressure for any thickness of fabric.
- Electronic Foot Control- Ensures powerful, smooth serging.
- Carry Handle
- Built-in Accessory Storage
It was a bit pricy (€ 715), but I keep reminding myself that it's an investment that will last for the next 15 years... And with all the clothes I'll be making I'll surely earn it back :)
To sew or not to sew
As always my head is filled with sewing projects. I still have tons of ideas for sexy lingerie, but I decided to first make myself some regular outfits. I really really need a whole new wardrobe for spring and summer. I gained a little weight (again), but I choose not to go on a diet. I started doing some Pilates on my own with my 10 min. workout DVD's. Maybe that'll firm me up a little :)
My first item will be this gorgeous dress (Burda, March 2008 edition) in a black/white flowered cotton fabric. I really love the neckline of this dress. I don't mind showing a little (or a lot of) cleavage... In May I have a formal lunch to go to from work, and I think this dress would be perfect for it.
Back from beautiful Egypt
I just spent 15 days travelling in Egypt. What an experience, what a beautiful country! We slept in the open desert, sailed the Nile on a Falouka, ride camels, did some snorkeling, smoked a waterpipe, and saw many many beautiful temples and pyramids.
It was the first time I travelled with a group. We were with 18 and had loads of fun. So my husband and I decided to do more group travels in the future. This trip was organised by Koning Aap, a travel agency specialised in adventurous trips.
